Lake Arenal
Situated at the base of the Arenal Volcano in the
northern highlands of Costa Rica. It is greater than
30 square miles in size and its deepest point is
about 200 feet. A hydroelectric dam built in 1979
significantly increased the size of the lake.
Lake Arenal attracts windsurfers from all over the world
and it is also a popular spot for rainbow bass fishing.
Other activities include cruises and kayaking.
