Best Fest International Music Festival
Annual music festival held on the shores of Marino Ballena National Park on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica.

Music, art, and sacred movement festival held in Uvita, Costa Rica.

Festival de las Artes
Two week celebration held every year, alternating between national and international editions. Features art shows, dramatic arts performances, and huge concerts. Has been held for many years in the city of San Jose, usually in late March or April.

Dia de la Virgen de Los Angeles (August 2)
Celebrated all over Costa Rica to honor the patron saint of Costa Rica, also known as "La Negrita" The black virgin statue sits at hte main alter of the Nuestra Senora de Los Angeleds Basilica in the Cartago City. Every year more then a million Costa Ricans walk the 13 miles from downtown San Jose to the cathedral, many of them having also walked to Cartago other parts of Costa Rica.

Costa Rican Independence from Spain Day (Sept 15)
Celebrated by school children parading through the streets, dressed in national costumes, carrying home made torches, and singing the Costa Rican national anthem and independence related songs.

Festival de la Luz
Festival of lights first held in 1996 when the city of San Jose organized a parade featuring theme-decorated floats and the best bands in the country. Held in early December so it has become a holiday tradition, with many of the bands playing Christmas carols. The parade is followed by a huge fireworks display.
