Cuba declared itself to be independent from Spain
on October 10, 1868.

First Cuban Revolution
The first Cuban revolution was Cuba's struggle to end Spanish colonial rule
Jose Marti was a leader in that struggle and the United States also played a part.

1934:
Second Cuban Revolution
The second Cuban revolution resulted in the overthrow and forced
exile of Cuban President Gerardo Machado and the United States repeal
of the Platt amendment. Some Cubans considered the Platt Amendment
to be a restriction on Cuba's right to self-determination.
1959:
Third Cuban Revolution
The third Cuban revolution began with the 1953 attack on the Moncada Barracks
and it ended with Cuban president Fulgencio Batista fleeing the country in 1959.
