Information about Jaragua National Park in the Dominican Republic,
one of the largest coastal protected areas in the Dominican Republic and
the entire Caribbean region. The park includes
the southern slopes of the Baoruco Mountain Range from
the town of Oviedo and the Lake Oviedo area to Cabo Rojo on the
Pedernales coast.

Jaragua National Park - UNESCO Site #1600
Jaragua National is on the tentative list of UNESCO world heritage sites
in the Dominican Republic. It was submitted to UNESCO for consideration
on November 21, 2001.
Jaragua-Bahoruco-Enriquillo Biosphere Reserve
Important representation of natural ecosystems in the Dominican
Republic and home of a large number of threatened endemic regional
and other species. Officially designated by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural
Organization (UNESCO) as a biosphere reserve in 2002. Includes
Jaragua National Park and areas outside the park such as
Lake Enriquillo, the largest lake in the Caribbean region.

Organizatione stablished to contribute to the sustainable management
of biodiversity with emphasis on the Jaragua-Bahoruco-Enriquillo
Biosphere Reserve of the Dominican Republic, as well as its surrounding
