The Beaches of Punta Cana

Information about the beaches of Punta Cana in the eastern Dominican Republic. The beches are listed from south (near Cap Cana and just south of the Punta Cana Airport) to the far northern end of the all inclusive resort zone.

Beaches from South to North

Playa Juanillo
Beach open to the public that is situated within the gated Cap Cana luxury residential and resort development. You may (ore may not) need to show your I.D. or register at the gate before entering the complex. Facilities and amenities include a beach cafe and bar and kayak and sailboat rentals. Located about a 15 minute drive south of the Punta Cana International Airport.

Caleton Beach at Cap Cana
Semi-private beach situated within the exclusive Caleton Beach Club on the grounds of the gated Cap Cana luxury residential and resort complex. The public can usually access the beach by paying a fee of about $30 USD, which usually includes a beach chair, towel, and non-alcoholic drink.

Playa Blanca Restaurant Beach
The only public beach with in the 26 square mile Punta Cana Resort and Club development south of the Punta Cana International Airport. The beach can only be accessed by walking through the elegant, open air, Playa Blanca Restaurant. Located within the gated Punta Cana Resort and Club, between Club Med Punta Cana and the Westin Punta Cana Resort.

Cabo Engano Beach
Small, isolated beach south of Cabeza del Toro.

Cabeza de Toro Beach
Long, narrow, often crowded beach located north of Cabo Engano and south of the Bavaro Beach area. There is a snorkeling area on the side of the Catalonia Royal Bavaro Resort with no boat traffic. Other nearby resorts include the Be Live Grand Punta Cana and Natura Park, which both have Blue Flag beaches.

Corales Beach
Adjacent to Playa Corecito in an area with many commercial businesses.

Cortecito Beach
Adjacent to Corales Beach in an area with many commercial businesses.

Bavaro Beach
Very developed beach lined with palm trees and many hotels, restaurants, shops, and water sports concessions such as parasaiing and speed boats. Has an offshore reef that protects the beach from rough waves. Two resorts, the Barcelo Bavaro Beach and the Palace Deluxe Resorts are on a section of blue Flag beach.

Playa Arena Gorda
One of the widest beaches in the Dominican Republic is a good swimming beach because itys water is usually calm. Palm tree shaded beach areas are available to those who arrive early. Three resorts, the Barcalo Punta Cana, the Grand Bahia Principe Bavaro, and the Ibostar Grand Hotel Bavaro are on Blue Flag beaches.

Macao Beach
Beautiful palm lined beach that is popular with the locals on weekends. Has a surf camp and surfboard rentals. The southern end of the beach has a cliff-top restaurant and there are several cafes along the beach.

Uvero Alto Beach
The northern-most beach at Punta Cana is also the least developed. This is the best beach for those who want an uncrowded experience but note there are no cafes or restaurants outside of the large resorts.
