Information about ferry services operating in Honduras, Central America.
Includes ferries to the Bay Islands of Honduras, including Roatan Island
and Utila island.
Roatan Ferry
Provides ferry service between the Port City of la Ceiba
and the Island of Roatan in the Bay islands off the Caribbean
coast of Honduras. The ferry service's Galaxy Wave
vessel is a 152 foot catamaran that can accommodate 460 passengers.
Sixty first class seats and 150 outdoor seats are available on
the vessel's upper level and 250 indoor seats are available on
the lower level. The trip to Roatan Island usually takes about
one hour and ten minutes and passengers are asked to arrive early
to allow enough time to pass through the security check.
Snacks and drinks are available on board and also at the ferry terminals.
Free parking is available on Roatan Island and paid parking is available in
La Ceiba.
Utila Princess Ferry
Provides twice daily ferry transportation between the mainland city of
La Ceiba and Utila Island on an
air conditioned catamaran ferry with bench seating.
The trip usually takes about one hour and passengers
are asked to arrive at the Port of La Ceiba or the Utila Ferry Dock
at least twenty minutes before departure, and at least one hour before
departure during the busiest holiday seasons.
Last time I checked adult one-way fares were about $25 USD
with discounts for children and seniors.
