the north to the Panamanian border in the south.

The most central and most populated region of Costa Rica
and the region in which the national capital city of
San Jose and the main international airport are located.
Central Pacific Region of Costa Rica
One of the most visited regions of Costa Ria because
of its many national parks and Pacific coast beaches.
Guanacaste Region of Costa Rica
This dry region in the northwest corner of Costa Rica,
is adjacent to Nicaragua and the southwest shore of Lake Nicaragua.
This region has some of Costa Rica's best Pacific Ocean surfing beaches and
several large volcanic and dry forest park in the northern section
near the Nicaraguan border. The International Airport in Liberia
has flights from Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, and Miami.
You can access the beaches of Guanacaste from San Jose by
taking a ferry from Puntarenas across the Golfo de Nicoya.
You can also drive across the Puente de la Amistad (Bridge of Friendship).
Northern Plains of Costa Rica
Mountainous region not heavily populated.
The Arenal Volcano, Arenal Lake, and several
hot springs and volcanic lakes are located in this region.
Borders the Rio San Juan region of Nicaragua
Southern Pacific Region of Costa Rica
Remote tropical beaches and biodiversity.
Bordered by Panama in the south.
